4 Ways To Use Flax Seeds For Weight Loss

4 Ways To Use Flax Seeds For Weight Loss

Flax seeds are tiny nutrient-rich oil seeds that have gained tremendous popularity for weight loss. Originating in the Middle East, they are packed with nutritional benefits and incorporating them into your diet might be just the trick to lose those extra kilos.

Also called linseeds, they are one of the richest sources of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids reducing inflammation and balancing metabolism.

They’re high in antioxidants and estrogen properties, which can help with weight loss by improving the functioning of the cells that burn fat.

Their high fibre content improves nutrient absorption keeping you fuller for longer. They also support colon detoxification, which may help with fat loss and reducing sugar cravings.

Finally, they’re well-known for their positive effects on blood sugar levels, making them a potentially helpful tool for those prone to diabetes.

Here are four easy ways to add these super seeds to your diet

4 Ways To Use Flax Seeds For Weight Loss

1. Swirl into smoothies

I love blending one to two tablespoons into my protein smoothies to thicken them up. It’s worth experimenting with the right amount until it has the desired consistency.

2. Mix into granola

Flax seeds make an excellent ingredient for mueslis and granolas. Add them together with chia, pumpkin or sunflower seeds and nuts for an extra portion of healthy fats.

3. Add crunch to your soups

Sometimes more than a soup is needed to feel satiated. Instead of grabbing a slice of bread, try sprinkling some flax seeds on top. They’ll also provide a nice crunch.

4. Sprinkle on top of yoghurt

Pimp your yoghurt with some extra fibre from linseeds. Combining them with mixed berries creates an equally delicious and pretty dish.

Make sure you use whole seeds instead of ground, as they quickly become rancid when they are oxidized (exposed to oxygen).

Go ahead and give these tiny seeds a try. They’re super easy to incorporate, adding an extra crunch or thickening your liquids.
