It happens to the best of us, the dreaded fat dimples. But fear not; here are four natural cellulite busters that work.
EAT THE RIGHT FOODS
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that your diet plays a critical role in protecting the sensitive connective tissues prone to cellulite. Firstly, try to keep toxins to a minimum by eating healthy organic food and detoxing regularly (with my 21-Day Transformational Cleanse, for example). Ensure your meals are high in fibre and full of healthy proteins and essential fatty acids. Add potassium-rich food like avocados and bananas and toxin-flushers like pineapple, cayenne pepper and papaya. Avoid inflammation by eliminating sugars as much as you can, trans fats and refined grains.
REDUCE SALT INTAKE
Salt is a major cause of fluid retention and contributor to the appearance of cellulite. Be careful with ready-meals because they’re often high in sodium, and try to home cook as much as possible. This will give you maximum control over what you put into your body, particularly salt. Aim for no more than 0.75 tsp of salt per day.
GET MOVING
While your blood is continuously pumped around your body by the heart, your lymph moves much more slowly and can get stagnant when you’re not moving. When this happens, wastes, toxins and fat accumulate below the skin and form tell-tale bumps and dents. The good news is that stimulating your lymphatic system and circulation can prevent buildup. The best way to do that is through regular movement (rebounder exercise is excellent for cellulite!). Dry brushing and contrasting showers also help.
TAKE MY FAVOURITE SUPPLEMENT – COLLAGEN
Collagen and skin health are like best buddies. Taking a high-quality collagen supplement will not only reduce the appearance of fine lines and give you back that plumb look; it also helps reduce cellulite. However, like with all supplements, they don’t work in isolation, so don’t skip the other steps. Collagen is close to magic but won’t erase other sins completely. It is the main structural protein in the body’s connective tissue. Therefore, having adequate amounts of collagen is vital for keeping the skin’s walls ridged to prevent cellulite bumps from appearing.
